In a fast-paced action space new ideas need to be found, structured and communicated, new products and services sought. Organizations must be agile in testing and employing new operation modes:

  • Should you invest in a valid idea or is it safer to settle with reliable data?
  • Is a pursuit of new knowledge conflicting with the exploitation of current knowledge?
  • How do you resolve unanticipated complex business situations?

Meanwhile, the notion of design has grown to embrace strategic development and innovation. The thinking behind design and the methods applied are user-centered, creative and encourage innovativeness. They do not offer one right solution to a problem, but aim at outcomes that are not automated or predetermined. Therefore this way of thinking can be applied to interpret and resolve complex, uncertain or unanticipated situations.

Design Thinking offers a new mindset and adds another point of view when aiming at a result that is customer-oriented, technologically feasible and economically sound.
