ATTRACT

Enhance the Attractiveness of Studies in Science and Technology

The ATTRACT project brings together seven CLUSTER (http://www.cluster.org) universities and two Swedish universities which are all involved in engineering education.

The aim of the project is to discuss the recruitment of students in engineering education and how the retention of students can be improved. ATTRACT will conduct development work within the following four areas:

  • The attractiveness of being an engineer
  • Formal hinders
  • Attracting students to studies in science and technology /engineering education
  • Student retention

All partners are represented in all work packages. Working groups will discuss, exchange ideas and experiences, and formulate best practices. The resulting findings will form the basis for policy making on national level in the participating countries and may also be important input to international activities.

Throughout the project, ATTRACT aims at involving policy makers, authorities, employers of engineers, teachers and headmasters of secondary schools, and other relevant parties whenever possible in order to leverage the impact of the project.

ATTRACT will spur the collaboration between the participating universities and may very well lead to enhanced mobility. Key findings will continuously be published on a public web-site, and all key findings will be reported at the final meeting in April 2012 open to the public. All material will also be published on digital media (CD or other).
