In the last two decades, the organisations that merged to form Aalto PRO have taken part in more than 120 European or national research, development and education and training projects as project partners, coordinators or implementers shouldering the main responsibility.

The international partner network that has emerged trough these projects covers more than 300 universities, research institutions and businesses. With the help of its cooperation networks, Aalto PRO is able to quickly and efficiently implement trainings within Europe or in countries outside of Europe.

Aalto PRO projects can be divided into three main groups

  1. Projects aimed at developing a certain sector
Development of new fields of business or sectors struggling with a structural change caused by changes in the business environment are often supported through structural fund activities. In these projects, the provision of training and creating networks for actors in the field constitute central measures. Aalto PRO participates in the implementation of such projects when the subject areas of the trainings to be arranged are represented in Aalto University.

  2. Projects developing the methods, tools and quality of adult learning
Aalto PRO has solid experience in the development and application of teaching and training methods. Particularly participation in projects associated with developing opportunities for the utilisation of ICTs has yielded valuable information, which is constantly being exploited by Aalto PRO in the development of its services. Most of the projects realised have been funded from EU programmes promoting lifelong learning or research framework programmes.

  3. Projects developing teaching in universities and related activities
Organisations forming Aalto PRO have carried out several European projects associated with developing standard university education particularly when no other institute has seemed right for their implementation. The planned shift to the so-called true cost model in university finances will, however, make it more difficult to implement these projects in an economically sustainable way. For this reason, Aalto PRO will only participate in projects of this kind upon special request from university management.
